WOODSTOCK – A 26-year-old Woodstock man has been charged in connection with a burglary at Kingston Lanes Bowling and Sports Lounge.
Police responded about 11:30 p.m. July 20 to the business at 1330 S. Eastwood Drive, Woodstock for a report of an ATM being removed.
Police received information Wednesday that led to identifying Andrew C. Hintt as a suspect, according to a news release from Woodstock police. A search warrant was obtained Wednesday to search Hintt's residence, 639 McHenry Ave., Apt. 3, Woodstock.
Because of Hintt's extensive violent criminal history and knowledge that he had a firearm, the search warrant was executed about 7 p.m. Wednesday with the assistance of the McHenry County Sheriff's Department Multi-Jurisdictional SWAT team, police said.
“We always err on the side of caution, just for everybody’s safety,” said Woodstock Deputy Chief of Police Jeffrey Parsons.
Hintt was not home at the time of the search, police said, but a heavily damaged ATM machine from the bowling alley, a handgun reportedly stolen out of Florida, and 6.84 pounds of marijuana and other illegally possessed narcotics were found.
Police issued a multi-county arrest warrant for Hintt, and with the help of the McHenry County Sheriff's Department and the U.S. Marshals' Fugitive Apprehension Task Force, arrested him Thursday at the Super 8 Motel in McHenry.
Hintt was charged with burglary, theft over $500, criminal damage to property, two counts of unlawful possession of weapons by a felon, possession of a stolen firearm, failure to register as a violent offender against youth, unlawful possession of marijuana with intent to deliver, unlawful possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia, police said.
Parsons said his most serious charge is a Class 2 felony, which could result to up to seven years in prison.
Hintt remains in custody at the McHenry County Jail on a $50,000 bond, police said. His court date is Tuesday.
