Joliet offers remedy for overgrown weeds and other code violations

JOLIET – Joliet residents can use the City of Joliet’s mobile app to report overgrown weeds and other code violations and then track the city’s response.

GoRequest was introduced in 2013; officials noted in a news release sent Tuesday by the city that continued success of the program depends on residents reporting problems they see around town.

The smartphone app for iPhones and Android devices is available free from the Apple App Store and the Google Play Store, respectively.

Local information and address is automatically available from the phone. Users can then select the type of issue from a pull-down list, attach a photo, and supply contact information. The app provides a tracking number on submission, which can be used for follow-up, according to the news release.

Alfredo Melesio, director of Neighborhood Services, said in the news release that the online reporting “helps our team prioritize, track, and report progress so residents know their concerns are being addressed.”

Another way to report is to visit www.cityofjoliet.info and click on the "I WANT TO" … Report … tab. Click on "file a complaint online."

For additional information, or, to file a complaint by phone, call the City of Joliet Information Desk at 815-724-4000.
