Lawyers chosen as associate judges

ST. CHARLES TOWNSHIP – Keith Johnson and Todd Tarter have been selected to be Kane County associate judges, as T. Clint Hull and Rene Cruz move from associate to circuit judges, according to a news release from the 16th Judicial Circuit.

Tarter will begin his work as an associate judge on Aug. 1 and will be assigned to the Aurora Branch Court.

Tarter began his legal career in 1987 with the DuPage County States Attorney’s Office. He later became a partner with the Law Office of Querrey and Harrow in Geneva. He then moved to the offices of O’Hagen, Smith and Amundsen and is currently a partner in the office of Chilton Yambert Porter LLP.

Johnson will begin his work as an associate judge on Sept. 1. He began his legal career with the Kane County States Attorney’s Office before moving to the Law Office of Smith Amundsen LLC in 2000. He is currently with the Law Office of Speers, Reuland and Cibulskis.

A public swearing in ceremony for Cruz and Hull and the new associate judges, Johnson and Tarter, will take place at 3:30 p.m. Sept. 1 at the Kane County Branch Court, 530 N. Randall Road, St. Charles.
