SYCAMORE – As business picked up and space ran out, Kramer’s Kitchen and Bath made the move from their former Elm Street location to a larger, more open storefront in Sycamore’s old opera house.
The store will host an open house from 3 to 7 p.m. June 29, when customers can tour the shop’s 1,200-square-foot space, stocked with cabinets and counter tops. The afternoon will include food and a raffle of hats, mugs and key chains, owner Kim Kramer said.
“We’re getting a little more walk-in traffic, which we were hoping and anticipating. I know a lot of people are just curious to see what’s going on,” Kramer said. “Even though I’ve been in business seven years one block away, a lot of people never heard of me.”
The new location means better visibility and a less-cramped shopping experience for customers, Kramer said.
“Just being on 64 – that’s where everything happens,” Kramer said. “We’re going to be able to participate in all the activities that go on there like Ladies Night, the wine walk and the Halloween party.”
Kramer officially relocated the store May 22, from 330 W. Elm St. to 360 W. State St., Sycamore. The building, once home to Ward Opera House, is one Kramer has long admired.
“I’ve always wanted to be on State Street because that’s the place to be. I fell in love with the building and everything fell into place,” Kramer said. “We have the east unit of the building, so we have all of the natural brick and stonework on that wall.”
For years, Kramer has independently tended to her store, but two new associates, Tami Zajkowski and Brittney Schmidt, will help her operate the business. Each of the women has nearly 10 or more years of experience in design, remodeling or architecture, Kramer said.
“Business was picking up and I also have them go out and find additional business and build up sales,” Kramer said.
Kramer’s Kitchen and Bath is open 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday.
