GENEVA – Past Basket Inc., located at 200 S. Third St. in Geneva, announced a name change to its kitchen design division to PB Kitchen Design.
This distinguishes the design firm from the brand’s founding name – Past Basket – owners David and Linda McFadden announced in a news release.
The name change comes in the 40th year that Past Basket has been in business in Milwaukee, Wis., and Geneva, David McFadden said, separating its tabletop accessories and gifts from the kitchen design aspect.
“The business evolved from folk art and decorative accessories in St. Charles … that [had] moved to Third Street in Geneva,” David McFadden said. “For 25 years, it was a hybrid, two separate entities under the same roof.”
For the past two years, the kitchen design division has been separate from the home accessories, David McFadden said, with decorative accessories now concentrated at its Milwaukee location.
Their son, company President Dan McFadden, said Past Basket has always been known for its quality products.
“We always prided ourselves on working with local and nationally known artisans,” Dan McFadden said. “We might create a hand-hammered hood … or maybe we used some old repurposed brackets to hold up a shelf or old repurposed doors. We utilize glass artisans because stained glass is still being done. They’re doing it locally, in their garage, cranking away. There’s still a place for them.”
PB Kitchen Design is a longtime community partner, as well, with Dan McFadden spearheading the Past Basket Cares program, which hosted a Kitchen Walk in 2014, featuring five of its design kitchens. The company helped raise more than $10,000 for Fox Valley Food For Health.
“We always look for ways that we can become involved in the community,” Dan McFadden said.
In honor of the 40th anniversary of the Past Basket Inc. brand, the company will be giving away free bottles of cold water while supplies last from noon to 4 p.m. June 25 and 26 during Geneva’s Swedish Days festival.
The company will also host a raffle for a Wolf small kitchen appliance, with all proceeds going to Fox Valley Food For Health.
