CHERRY — Martin “Marty” W. Klein, 53, of Cherry died Tuesday, June 7, 2016, at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria.
Marty was born May 9, 1963, in Spring Valley to Harold “Mick” and Shirley (Gillan) Klein. He married Belinda Skaggs on January 14, 1994 in Princeton.
He was a graduate of Hall Township High School. He was a carpenter with Klein Home Improvement for many years and later was self employed.
He was a member of the Cherry Booster Club. He was an avid Chicago Bears and Hall Red Devils fan. He enjoyed the outdoors and a good storm. He also enjoyed lending a helping hand to anyone who needed it.
He is survived by his wife, Belinda Klein of Cherry; his parents, Harold “Mick” and Shirley Klein of Cherry; his son, Ryan Klein of Florida; his stepdaughter, Missy Stier of Cherry; his stepson, Christopher (Jennifer) Stier of Cherry; his stepgrandson, Damian Stier of Cherry; his siblings, Renee McCallister of McNabb, Michael (Lynn) Klein of Cherry, Lori (Jack) Dipple of McNabb, Julie (Frank) Niewinski of Mark, Colleen (Ted) Kuziela of Bolingbrook and Tracy (Jim) Gallagher of Bloomington; his best friend, Sapper; and many nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.
He was preceded by his maternal and paternal grandparents.
A prayer service will be at 9:40 a.m. Saturday, June 11, in the Fiocchi Funeral Home in Cherry and a Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Cherry, with the Rev. Patrick Fixsen officiating. Burial will be private and at a later date.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, June 10, with a rosary service at 4 p.m., and again from 9 a.m. until the time of services Saturday at the funeral home.
In celebration of Marty’s life the family has asked that you wear your favorite Chicago Bears attire to the visitation and service.
