Rosary High School celebrates graduation

AURORA – Rosary High School in Aurora hosted its graduation ceremony for the Class of 2016 last month at St. John Neumann Church in St. Charles.

The class valedictorian was Grace Wehner of Oswego, and the graduation speaker was Victoria Pyle of Sugar Grove.

The 84 Rosary graduates included:

• 26 Illinois State Scholars;

• Four National Merit-commended students;

• 37 National Honor Society members;

• And 12 athletes who have signed letters of intent to play their sport in college.

Graduates earned $14.4 million in college scholarships, according to a news release from the school. And they spent 4,000 hours on community service senior year.

Eighteen members of the Class of 2016 were named St. Catherine of Siena Scholars, Rosary’s highest academic award.

Catherine of Siena scholars must have a minimum cumulative grade-point average of 4.0 and a minimum of 15 honors courses; a strong attendance record; and a strong service record, among other requirements.
