Two Troy bowling teams make first in state on same day

PLAINFIELD – Both of the Troy Middle School bowling teams – girls’ and boys’ – became IESA state champions last weekend after competing in 10 games in two days.

The TMS girls’ bowling team beat 44 other teams to take first place by 335 pins. Individually, Natalie Plunge placed third, averaging 180.2 with a high game of 246; Barbara Lunsford placed fifth, averaging 174.6 with a high game of 205; Brooklinn Chavez placed sixth, averaging 169.6 with a high game of 227; Hailey Heffron placed 28th, averaging 150.2 with a high game of 192; and Lauren VanMeter was the alternate.

The TMS boys’ bowling team beat 45 other teams to place first by 118 pins. Julian Ramos placed fifth, averaging 195.4 with a high game of 247; Brock Whiteman placed eighth, averaging 190.2 with a high game of 224; Lucas Pirc placed 12th, averaging 188.2 with a high game of 227; Joey Lizzio placed 20th, averaging 179.8 with a high game of 238; and Kyle Siksta was the alternate.

Additionally, three of Troy’s William B. Orenic Intermediate School fifth- and sixth-grade bowlers qualified for state. They were Anthony Lizzio, who averaged 173.1 with a high game of 222; Nathan Schram, who averaged 171 with a high game of 203; and Malaya Chavez, who averaged 137.4 with a high game of 168.
