CARPENTERSVILLE – A 17-year-old girl was sent to the hospital after falling off a bridge Tuesday in Carpentersville's Raceway Woods, officials said.
Carpentersville Fire Department Battalion Chief Bob Beattie said the department responded to the scene about 3:50 p.m.
Flight for Life was called to take the girl to the Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville because the area was not easy to access, he said.
The girl fell from a 25-foot bridge over a path in the woods, Beattie said.
Forest Preserve District of Kane County Chief of Police Mike Gilloffo said the fall was accidental. The girl, from West Dundee, was on a bridge that is not meant for public use, he said.
Gilloffo said the girl had a couple of broken bones, and injuries were not considered to be life-threatening. There was no indication that drugs or alcohol played a factor in the fall, he said.
Officials were able to reach the girl after friends found her and called an ambulance, Gilloffo said.
