LAMOILLE — John Gordon "Gordie" Stuepfert, 68, of LaMoille died Tuesday, Feb. 2, 2016, in his home after a brief illness.
Gordon was born April 25, 1947, in Princeton to John and Alice (Anderson) Stuepfert. He married Renee Piper on Feb. 4, 1967, at St. Louis Catholic Church in Princeton.
He graduated from LaMoille High School in 1965 and attended Northern Illinois University. He served with the Army National Guard from 1967 to 1973. He worked for Sundstrand for many years and retired from Northern Partners, where he was a LP driver.
Gordon enjoyed his many customers on his routes. He was a member of the Mendota Golf Club and enjoyed golfing with the seniors twice every week. He also enjoyed watching various sports on TV, especially the Green Bay Packers and the Chicago White Sox.
He is survived by his wife, Renee of LaMoille; two sons, Scott Stuepfert of Columbus, Ohio, and Michael Stuepfert of Denver, Colo.; three grandchildren, Jared Turner, Jesse Stuepfert and Skylar Cordray; one sister; Carol Johnson of Sycamore, Ill.; one brother-in-law, Rex (Deb) Piper of Princeton; two sisters-in-law, Rita (Bruce) Placek of Princeton and Robyn (Jay Jordan) Piper of Del Mar, Calif.; nieces and nephews; and many dear friends.
He was preceded by his parents and one brother-in-law, A. H. Johnson.
A memorial visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday, Feb. 8, at the Merritt Funeral Home in Mendota. Cremation rites have been accorded.
