US Bank honors Milano Bakery for century of success

JOLIET — Officials from U.S. Bank recently recognized Joliet’s Milano Bakery on its 100 years in business with a special congratulatory award followed by a tour of the South Chicago Street facility.

The bakery was founded in 1915 by Mario DeBenedetti I, who came to the United States from Milan,
Italy.

Today, the third and fourth generations of the DeBenedetti family closely follow many of
his old-world Italian recipes.

Milano Bakery remains family owned and operated under Mario DeBenedetti III, the company’s president, and his brother Darin, the vice president.

Both brothers handle day-to-day operations ensuring quality, consistency and customer satisfaction.

"We are extremely honored to receive this award from U.S. Bank," said Mario DeBenedetti III.
"They have been a strong business partner of ours over the years, and we look forward to
continuing and growing the relationship."

Milano Bakery has more than 80 local employees who satisfy the growing list of wholesale customers that includes restaurants, casinos, hospitals, grocery stores, schools, and
institutions within a 50-mile radius.
