The designated trick-or-treating hours for Halloween this Saturday, Oct. 31, in Oswego will be from 3:30 to 8 p.m., village officials have announced.
In Montgomery, trick-or-treating will be from 4 to 8 p.m., according to village officials.
There are no designated trick-or-treating hours for unincorporated areas of Oswego and Bristol townships, including the Boulder Hill and Shore Heights subdivisions.
The Oswego Police Department and Oswego Fire Protection District also issued the following safety tips for trick or treaters and their parents and/or guardians:
Children should be accompanied by a parent or responsible adult.
Travel in groups when not with an adult.
Trick-or-treating is encouraged during daylight hours.
Carry a flashlight and wear reflective clothing after dark.
Children should never enter a home to receive treats.
Only go to homes with outside lights on.
Wearing masks affects children’s ability to see where they are walking.
Do not carry sharp accessories with costumes.
Review street safety with children.
Parents should check candy before children consume any.
Police will have extra patrols during the evening on Halloween.
