Lone Star Restaurant and Lounge closed indefinitely after fire

CHANNAHON – Lone Star Restaurant and Lounge will be closed indefinitely after a fire Wednesday evening, according to Fire Chief John Petrakis.

The fire started about 5:30 p.m., leaving the roof's southeast corner partially collapsed and smoke, heat and water damage throughout the building, Petrakis said. A monetary estimate for the damage to the restaurant at 25208 W. Eames St. was not yet available.

At the time of the fire, the restaurant was occupied by employees and customers, and a crew was repairing the roof. No one was injured, according to Petrakis.

The cause of the fire appears to be accidental, Petrakis said, and may have been due to the roof work.

West Eames Street was shut down between Reed Street and Channon Drive for the duration of the fire, according to a news release from the Channahon Fire Protection District. Traffic was reopened about 8:45 p.m.

Firefighters remained on scene until just after 9 p.m.

Agencies from Minooka, Troy, Elwood, Wilmington, Morris, Lockport, Plainfield, East Joliet, Romeoville, New Lenox, Coal City and Homer assisted at the scene. Agencies providing area coverage included those from Bolingbrook, Northwest Homer and Manhattan.

Channahon and state police assisted with site control and road access throughout the incident.

Other assisting agencies included Channahon Public Works, ComEd and Nicor.
