BOYS GOLF
ANTIOCH
Coach: Andrew Benton
Key returning golfers: Seniors – Tyler Steele, Braden Ward, Nick Falino and Adam Regalado; Junior – Reece Eldridge.
Key newcomers: Freshmen – Tony Sectic and Alex Riedel.
Outlook: There's a new era for boys golf in Antioch as Andrew Benton takes over the program from Jeff Moxley. The Sequoits have talent returning and a few new freshmen as they look to build off a sixth-place finish in regionals.
CARMEL
Coach: Jim Nolan
Key returning golfers: Seniors – Quaid DeLacluyse, Riley Ley and Mike Roy; Junior – Tyler Anderson.
Key newcomers: Juniors – Will Roberts, Tanner Nelson and Tommy Lacher.
Outlook: Coach Nolan has quite the experienced lineup with seven upper classmen leading the way for Carmel. Riley Lee returns after tying for the best round in the conference meet last season shooting a 71.
GRANT
Coach: John Eiduke
Key returning golfers: Seniors – Matt Burkart, Jordan Favela, Robert Leishman, Michael Maye and Tanner Wendt.
Key newcomers: Senior – Ben Cabano; Juniors – Dominic Asciutto, Kyle Broome and Richard Flogel.
Outlook: Grant heads into this season looking to improve on last season's 12th place finish at the conference meet. The Bulldogs will feature a pretty senior-heavy lineup and hope that experience will lead to good things.
GRAYSLAKE CENTRAL
Coach: Jim Mazzetta
Key returning golfers: Seniors – Grant Hupp, Michael Murdy and Kyle Reynolds; Junior – Cooper Brunk; Sophomore – Michael Sisk.
Key newcomers: Juniors – Jack Brown and Carter Maiden; Sophomore – Alec Novak.
Outlook: The 2014 season was quite successful for the Rams and expectations remain high for 2015, with several members returning from last year's sectional-qualifying team including state qualifier Kyle Reynolds.
GRAYSLAKE NORTH
Coach: Tim Hough
Key returning golfers: Seniors – Jon Cesario and Brandon Kottmer; Juniors – Adam Baker, Joey McHugh and Alex Wrobel.
Key newcomers: Senior – Josh Davis; Junior – Declan Peterson; Sophomores – Chris Ambrose and Brian Szramek.
Outlook: The Knights will rely on five returning contributors as they look to improve in the Fox Valley Conference.
LAKES
Coach: Kyle Naughton
Key returning golfers: Seniors – Ian Nuxoll and Andrew Whitis; Junior – Jackson Gifford; Sophomore – Adam Nuxoll.
Key newcomers: Senior – Tanner Cappel; Juniors – Austin Hirsch, Tommy Hucker and Tommy Jones; Freshman – Brad Bies.
Outlook: Lakes is a young team but does have some experience. The Eagles only had one senior in the lineup at conference last year, and they will look to surprise some teams this season with the experience they gained last season.
LIBERTYVILLE
Coach: Sean Matthews
Key returning golfers: Senior – Michael Watson; Juniors – Jacob Mueller and Michael Watt.
Key newcomers: Seniors – George Frangos and Michael Hogan; Juniors – Mark Jensen, Michael Sefton; Sophomore – Mitch Kenston.
Outlook: The Wildcats will rely on depth this season as they return several golfers from last year's squad. Mueller will lead the way after qualifying for sectionals as a sophomore.
MUNDELEIN
Coach: Todd Parola
Key returning golfers: Senior – Nick Chuma; Juniors – Ryan Magee, Brett Parola, Tyler White and Zach Zentz.
Key newcomers: Seniors – Mikey Nieckula and Clay Miller; Sophomore – Colin Geary.
Outlook: Mundelein returns four golfers from last season's regional championship and once again should be in contention to win conference.
VERNON HILLS
Coach: Shawn Healey
Key returning golfers: Senior – Tanner Fulton, Junior – Justin Park; Sophomores – Brian Favia and Ethan Lee.
Key newcomers: Juniors – Daniel Young and Jacob Florian; Sophomore – Hayden Lau; Freshman – Sujay Voleti.
Outlook: Vernon Hills lost several key golfers from last season's state qualifying team, but figures to still compete in 2015 with the return of Favia and Lee.
WARREN
Coach: Mike Wittes
Key returning golfers: Senior – Orlando Avila; Sophomore – Karl Tolentino.
Key newcomers: Juniors – Trevor Britton and Zane Blevins.
Outlook: Warren will once again be led by Avila and Tolentino with hopes to gain some new depth that will help them succeed come tournament time.
WAUCONDA
Coach: Lee Oler
Key returning golfers: Seniors – Will Rudd and Greg LePage.
Key newcomers: Juniors – Ben Brannick, John Herbst, Ty Janik and Jake Tripp; Freshman – Matt Szmajda.
Outlook: Wauconda is a young team this season and they will rely on the experience of Rudd and LePage.
GIRLS GOLF
ANTIOCH
Coach: Bill Hamill
Key returning golfers: Juniors – Hannah Cook, Savannah Hallett, Rachel Price, Abigail Tyrell and Madeline McKevett.
Key newcomers: Freshman – Samantha Brown
Outlook: The Sequoits will be led by a pretty solid junior class that has had the advantage of playing together the past two seasons.
CARMEL
Coach: Jill Franz
Key returning golfers: Seniors – Alexa Amato, Kayla Ryan and Eva Savovich; Juniors – Erin Kehoe, Danielle Savovich and Natalie LInquist.
Key newcomers: Sophomore – Chalotte Roberts.
Outlook: The Corsairs are looking to win conference for the third straight season and one huge advantage is they basically have their entire team back from last season's conference championship. With a ton of experience returning, Carmel is hoping to continue the recent success.
GRANT
Coach: AJ Havenga
Key returning golfers: Senior – Brianna Burgeson; Sophomores – Kylie Diana, Maddy Lantz and Lexie Glunz.
Key newcomers: Sophomores – KiLynn Gold and Sami Miller.
Outlook: Grant made strides in just its second season last year and has the advantage of returning most of that team. Burgeson returns for her senior season after qualifying for sectionals last season.
GRAYSLAKE CO-OP
Coach: Scott Ewen
Key returning golfers: Senior – Kara Ahlemeyer.
Outlook: This is a fresh start for the Grayslake Co-op after a very successful 2014 season. Grayslake lost six golfers from the sectional-qualifying team. Ahlemeyer returns for her senior season and is a two-time sectional qualifier.
LAKES
Coach: Rebecca Schilz
Key returning golfers: Seniors – Jhordin Andell and Taylor Chisolm.
Key newcomers: Juniors – Stephanie Schaeffer, Shannon Cole and Chloe Lukasik; Freshmen – Camryn Jones, Isabella Poli, Hannah Castelvecchi, Megan Klein, Anna Metzger and Stephanie Bizosky.
Outlook: The Lakes team will be young, which is a good thing. With so many freshmen joining the program, the Eagles should gain valuable experience throughout the season and improve in each match.
LIBERTYVILLE
Coach: Greg Pedersen
Key returning golfers: Seniors – Maggie Piazzi and Katherine Stegman; Juniors – Simone Mikaelian and Megan Sturonas.
Key newcomers: Senior – Natalie Quist; Junior – Madeleine Hollinger; Sophomore – Colby Roberts
Outlook: It will be tough to top last season for Libertyville – they won conference and regionals and were so close to qualifying for state. The Wildcats do return several members from the 2014 team and should once again go far in the postseason.
MUNDELEIN
Coach: Barb Hartwig
Key returning golfers: Seniors – Megan Wiese, Darin Chaichitatorn and Grace Gotlund; Junior – Isabella Loverde; Sophomore – Jennifer Dimitriou.
Key newcomers: Freshman – Josie Ollendick.
Outlook: Dimitriou returns to lead the Mustangs after qualifying for sectionals last season. Mundelein should be much improved and very competitive this season.
VERNON HILLS
Coach: Jim Seward
Key returning golfers: Junior – Faith Jung
Key newcomers: Juniors – Becky Bahlman and Ally Ripes; Sophomore – Sammi Hansen.
Outlook: Jung will once again lead the Cougars looking to qualify for sectionals for the third consecutive season. Depth could be an issue for the Cougars, but they still figure to be competitive in conference play.
WARREN
Coach: Leigh Ann Mondrawickas-Boncher
Key returning golfers: Senior – Izzy Cordova; Juniors – Nicole Urquhart, Anna Telling and Katrina Steffy; Sophomores – Ellie Bousson and Annika Johnson.
Newcomers: Senior – Kelsey Machnics, Junior – Kelsey Campbell, Freshmen – Danielle Guzman and Amanda Mietus.
Outlook: Warren not only has several returning members including Cordova who has qualified for sectionals twice, but they will also have a lot of new players with 13 newcomers on the team this year.
GIRLS VOLLEYBALL
ANTIOCH
Coach: Jamie Atkinson
Key returning players: Seniors – Candace Nelson, Allie Gelander, Emily Quinett, Kayla Vazquez, Toree Briggs and Jordan Staten.
Key newcomers: Juniors – Jacklyn Geraty, Alexa Spokas and Erika Gallimore; Sophomore – Katherine Barr.
Outlook: Antioch is a young team but don't let the youth fool you. Coach Atkinson thinks this team can be great and the Sequoits have depth at every position, showing great progress during summer workouts.
CARMEL
Coach: David Pazely
Key returning players: Senior – Elizabeth Tworek; Junior – Grace Butler.
Key newcomers: Junior – Lauren Nelson.
Outlook: Carmel graduated three seniors who are all playing college ball this season. Coach Pazely is looking to see who will step up and lead the team this season and is excited for some of the young players to inject some competitiveness and push some of the veteran players.
GRANT
Coach: Sue Thompson
Key returning players: Seniors – Kylie Mueller, Taylor Drake, Jordynn Hundley, Lexi Gerdes, Carlee Holland, Ally Latta, Megan Whitman and Kelly Varney; Juniors – Kate Kiser and Hannah Johnson; Sophomore – Megan Gebauer.
Key newcomer: Sophomore – Emily Bringer.
Outlook: Grant returns 11 varsity players in what will be Coach Thompson's final season coaching volleyball before retiring after 20 years on the bench. Coach Thompson thinks the Bulldogs should be in the mix for the division title and have a strong post season.
GRAYSLAKE CENTRAL
Coach: Jason Janczak
Key returning players: Seniors – Allie Daul, Marie Gerbasi and Jackie Hamrick; Junior – Morgan Anderberg.
Key newcomers: Senior – Nicole Cave; Sophomore – Lauren Labeck; Freshman – Amber Moser.
Outlook: Grayslake Central will take advantage of its height by playing aggressive at the net this season. The Rams will be led by Division II prospect Daul who will play next year at St. Leo University in St. Leo, Fla.
GRAYSLAKE NORTH
Coach: Jim Sarver
Key returning players: Senior – Kendall Buchman.
Key newcomers: Seniors – Kennedy Krieg, Annie Rauch and Madison Helm; Juniors – Abby Fish, Taylor Johnston and Sydney Lovitsch.
Outlook: Buchman returns after her all-conference selection last season and will lead the Knights. Setting and their play in the middle will be the strengths of this year's team.
LAKES
Coach: Kate Cheek
Key returning players: Seniors – Megan Behrendt, Maddie Demo and Izzy Huntington; Junior – McKenna Lahr; Sophomore – Katie Billetdeaux.
Key newcomers: Sophomore – Erica Grant.
Outlook: Expectations are high with five starters returning from a 28-8 team including Behrendt who was named to the All-American team during nationals with her club team.
LIBERTYVILLE
Coach: Greg Loika
Key returning players: Seniors – Erin Dunleavy, Hannah Zerwas and Annika Hawkinson; Juniors – Morgan O'Brien and Anny Lillydahl.
Key newcomers: Seniors – Jacqui Widmark (missed 2014 with injury) and Alison Watson; Juniors – Haley Stevenson and Caroline Frea.
Outlook: Libertyville will once again be a top team in the area returning several players from last year's state runner-up team. Defensive prowess will be a strength.
VERNON HILLS
Coach: Ray Rugebregt
Key returning players: Seniors – Jade Goldufsky and Jenna Joyce.
Key newcomers: Sophomores – Caralynn Orbell, Taylor Harte and Jordyn Bunning.
Outlook: Vernon Hills is in a rebuilding mode with not much varsity experience or depth. The Cougars should get better as the season progresses.
WARREN
Coach: Julie Filippo
Key returning players: Seniors – Kim Hengesh, Jenna Walczak and Nicole Berzin; Juniors – Claire Lundviet and Natalie McNally.
Key newcomers: Freshmen – Kayla Klemz and Olivia Schostok.
Outlook: Five starters return for Warren. Some new young talent and a strong bench should help the Blue Devils improve their record and have a successful season.
WAUCONDA
Coach: Alison Williams
Key returning players: Seniors – LeAnne Sakowicz, Sara Sexton and Ashley Anderson.
Key newcomers: Juniors – Gabby Fugle, Taylor Arden and Aimee Berg.
Outlook: Ten players return including seven seniors for Wauconda. The Bulldogs should be one of the top teams in their division having lost just one starter.
