ROCK FALLS – Local businessman and well-known community member, Wayne Wright, 76, of Rock Falls, died unexpectedly Tuesday, Aug. 18, 2015, at his home.
He was born Sept. 1, 1938, in Rock Falls, the son of Loyal J. and Bernice M. (Edwards) Wright. He married Maria Flosi on Aug. 9, 1958, in Sterling. Wayne was the owner and operator of Angelo’s Pizza in Sterling, Rock Falls, and Dixon. He was an avid collector of antiques, an accomplished pool player, and loved to fish and play cards especially poker. But above all, he was a family man.
Surviving are his wife, Maria; their children, Wayne Edward (Mary) Wright, September Wright, Gary Wright, and Diana (Brad) Folkers; his grandchildren, Ashley Engberg, Bliss Craft, Ed Wright, Abby Wright, Champaigne Wright, Meghan Verhulst, Allen Wright, Chance Wright, Kennedy Wright, Macarthe Folkers, Addison Folkers, and Emerson Folkers; great-grandchildren, Charisma Fernandez, Giovanni Wright, Irelynd Henson, Bella Henson, Kellan Verhulst, AJ Cavazos, Arabella Engberg, Scarlett Engberg, and Easton Wright; and his brother, Larry Wright.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a great-grandchild, Kambri Folkers.
Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. Friday at McDonald Funeral Home, 1002 12th Ave., Rock Falls, The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Scott Porter officiating. Burial will be at Coloma Township Cemetery in Rock Falls.
A memorial will be established.
