Centegra, Advocate hospitals ranked among the 20 best in Illinois

Four area hospitals were named one of the 20 best hospitals in Illinois by U.S. News and World Report.

The national publication's recently released hospital rankings for 2015-16 pegged Centegra Hospital – McHenry as the 11th best hospital in the state. Advocate Good Shepherd Hospital in Barrington ranked 14th, while Advocate Sherman Hospital in Elgin and Centegra Hospital – Woodstock tied for the 19th ranking, along with five others.

For the list, U.S. News and World Report examined hospitals’ performance in various data categories, including patient survival, adverse events, patient experience and nurse staffing levels.

Centegra Hospital – McHenry earned the magazine’s “high-performing” ranking for numerous adult specialties (orthopedics, nephrology and geriatrics) and procedures (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, heart failure and hip replacement).

Advocate Good Shepherd in Barrington earned “high-performing” rankings for adult procedures (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, heart bypass surgery, heart failure and knee replacement).
