Shoe retailer DSW plans to open in McHenry store

McHENRY – DSW, a prominent shoe retailer that offers numerous brand names, plans to open a store in McHenry on Sept. 3.

The new store, 3356 Shoppers Drive, would join a McHenry shopping center that already houses recognizable retailers like Best Buy, Dick's Sporting Goods, Old Navy and many others.

DSW takes the place of the former OfficeMax in McHenry, city officials said. Officials earlier this summer issued DSW building permits to remodel the interior of the old office supplier.

DSW's media relations department did not reply to a request for comment.

Headquartered in Columbus, Ohio, DSW operates 431 stores throughout 42 states, Washington D.C., and Puerto Rico, according to the company's website. The shoe retailer offers numerous designer dress, casual and athletic footwear for women, men and children, along with accessories.

Once the McHenry store opens, McHenry County will have two DSW locations. The other store operates within the Algonquin Commons shopping center at 1820 S. Randall Road, Algonquin.
