Brigham Field’s makeover is finally complete.

The new turf for the field at Huskie Stadium, which features a new design, is complete in time for multiple summer camps.

“We are very excited and pleased with how the replacement of Brigham Field at Huskie Stadium turf turned out,” said John Cheney, Northern Illinois Senior Associate Athletics Director of Facilities and Event Operations. “FieldTurf is a great company to work with and they did everything we could have asked to help us meet our June 6 deadline.”

The new design features a shading of the state of Illinois at midfield with a red star representing the DeKalb community. FieldTurf submitted the low bid for the project, which will cost about $360,000, Cheney said. FieldTurf also installed the previousplaying surface at Brigham Field in 2009.

“The reactions from fans, players, and coaches to the improvements the new surface provided both visually as well as when running and working out have been extremely positive,” Cheney said. “ We have a little fine tuning to finish up but overall it was great project, and we are looking forward to next season and many years to come on the new surface.”

The Huskies open the season at home, unveiling the new field Sept. 5 against UNLV.
