Eugene H. 'Gene' Frost

HARVARD – Eugene Herbert “Gene” Frost, 85, of Harvard, died Sunday, May 4, 2015, at Rosewood Manor in Delavan, Wisconsin.

He was born Oct. 9, 1929, in Sterling, to Melvin and Maye Frost. He married Barbara E. Frost on June 7, 1952, in Edison Park. Gene was a farmer in Galena for 14 years and changed careers when moving to Harvard in 1964. He spent the remaining 46 years as an insurance agent. He was a deacon at First Presbyterian Church in Harvard and was involved in the church’s men’s group. He also was involved in Al-Anon. Gene was a veteran of the Army, serving in the infantry during the Korean War. He was a past member of the Harvard Rotary Club. He loved the outdoors and going fishing. Gene enjoyed traveling especially to Alaska, England and Scotland. He had a special place in his heart for Elders Eden, an elder group home in Rockford where he lived 1 1/2 years.

Survivors include his children, Dan (Becky) Frost of Harvard, Sue (Roger) Oberman of Woodstock, Bob (Pam) Frost of Harvard, and Kathy (Bob) Cox of Machesney Park; 16 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Barb, on Sept. 17, 2012; twin daughters in infancy; and a son, Timothy.

The visitation will be from 3 to 6 p.m. Friday and the funeral at 6 p.m. Friday at Saunders and McFarlin Funeral Home, 107 W. Sumner St., Harvard., with the Rev. Peder Carlson and lay minister Roger Oberman officiating.

A memorial will be established later at a later date.
