Police question second motorcyclist in fatal Plainfield accident

PLAINFIELD – Police are interviewing another motorcyclist in connection with an Tuesday early morning crash in downtown Plainfield that killed two residents.

Sean Fitzpatrick, 27, was driving on a motorcycle on Route 59 near Lockport Street about midnight when he allegedly lost control of a 2007 Yamaha bike, striking a pedestrian identified as 56-year-old Randy Lambert, according to police and the Will County Coroner's office.

Plainfield Police Chief John Konopek said police were in the early stages of an investigation, but he confirmed Fitzpatrick was traveling at a high rate of speed when the incident occurred. Toxicology reports that could determine if alcohol or drugs were involved may take several weeks.

Konopek said police are looking into whether the other motorcyclist's actions may have contributed to the accident. When asked if drag racing may have been involved, Konopek said, "that's all a part of the investigation."
