Prep roundup: Hinsdale South soccer wins big against Addison Trail

Tess Sobol had three goals plus an assist, and Sara Cepeda and Gina Cavalli each added goals in Hinsdale South’s West Suburban Gold girls soccer win against Addison Trail on Tuesday.

The Hornets previously earned a 3-0 win against Montini on April 23.

SOFTBALL

Hinsdale Central 

Taylor Glenn homered, scored twice and drove in a run and Julia Chatterjee plated Glenn with a run, but it wasn’t enough for the Red Devils, who lost 7-2 against Oak Park-River Forest on Monday.

Central had a better showing April 24 in a 15-0 win against Glenbard West. Riley Burr was 3 for 4 with a home run, two runs scored and three RBIs, while Emma Day went 2 for 3 with a home run, three runs and an RBI.

Abby Shaker and Taylor Glenn each had two RBIs against Glenbard West, while Glenn, Annie Bruns and Faith Koffron each scored twice.

BOYS TENNIS

Hinsdale Central

The Red Devils’ Jay Kramer invite was rained out Saturday, but they moved indoors to face Highland Park in a dual meet and won 5-1.

BOYS TRACK

Hinsdale Central

The Red Devils’ 4x1,600-meter relay team clocked the top time at the Lyons Township Relays on April 24, winning in 18:50.

Central was fourth in the 4x200, fifth in the 4x800 and sixth in the 4x400 relays.

Hinsdale South

Dylan Boye earned a pair of second-place finishes at Downers Grove South’s Bob Cohoon invite April 24.

The junior posted a mark of 21-feet, 8.75-inches in the long jump and went 43-0.5 in the triple jump.

Brian Jordan finished sixth in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:00.96. Charlie Nodus was seventh in the 3,200 run (9:28.44) while Alec Cirjakovic took seventh in the high jump (5-9).

GIRLS TRACK

Hinsdale Central

Maddie Becker, Maddie Sullivan and Katie Sluman were part of the Red Devils’ 4x100- and 4x200-meter relays at Glenbard West’s Sue Pariseau invite Saturday. Jessica Spring joined on the 4x200 team that finished third (1:49.88) while Hannah Battreal was part of the fourth-place 4x100 (50.77).

In field events, Ugochi Ihemeseon was fifth in shot put [34 feet, 9 inches] and sixth in discus (99-6).

Emma Stapleton was sixth in the 300 hurdles (52.34).

Hinsdale South

The Hornets had a slew of top-five finishes at their own invite April 22.

Kailey Hoel [1:02.37 in the 400-meter dash], Agne Lukoseviciute [88 feet, 10 inches in discus] and the 4x400 relay (4:17.79) all finished second.

Kyra Riley was third in the shot put with a throw of 34-8 and fourth in discus with a mark of 81-2, Nakiyah Darden placed fourth in the 300 hurdles in 53.46 seconds, and Sarah Nwakudu was fourth in triple jump (31-3.25).

Hoel [100 dash], Sarah Leganski [400 dash], Kiki Twardosz [800 run], Natalia Kurnyta [high jump], Raquel Blumenstein [triple jump], Ariel Johnson [discus] and the 4x100, 4x200 and 4x800 relays were all fifth.

GIRLS LACROSSE

Hinsdale Central

The Red Devils topped the Medina (Ohio) Bees 14-4 on Saturday in Hinsdale with nine players putting points on the board: Shea Draddy, Yasmain Hamood, Megan Draddy, Anna Santulli, Anne Richter, Brianna Ary, Delaney Mahon, Megan Arbor and Lally Johnson.

Central followed that up with a 17-8 win against Lake Forest on Monday. The Red Devils led 15-4 at the half.

GIRLS WATER POLO

Hinsdale Central

Nina Relias scored four goals in an 8-5 win against Rolling Meadows on Saturday at the Naperville North invite.

BOYS GYMNASTICS

Hinsdale South

Against Addison Trail on April 23, Adrian Siaw won on floor (9.30) and shared top honors on vault and parallel bars with teammate Kwame Lipscomb with scores of 9.10 and 7.80, respectively. Jack O’Donnell tied for second on parallel bars (7.70).

South scored 132.50 and lost by a point.

30.08 Combined 100- and 200-meter dash times for Hinsdale Central's Katie Sluman at the Glenbard West invite. She was third in the 200 (26.93 seconds), fourth in the 100 (13.15).

BOYS TRACK: Hinsdale South athletes get to perform in front of the home crowd at their own Hornet Invite at 5 p.m. today.

GIRLS SOCCER: Hinsdale Central hosts a pair of key West Suburban Silver conference games next week, including a 4:45 p.m. contest against rival Lyons Township on Thursday.
