CARY – The Cary Police Department is investigating the disappearance of a 21-year-old Cary man, who has been missing since Saturday and is determined to be a "high-risk missing person," police said.

Kyle Cuchna, who is about 6 feet tall and 180 pounds, was last seen late Saturday at Cary United Methodist Church on First Street in Cary, a Cary Police Department news release said. He was wearing a dark blue jacket and blue jeans with black converse shoes. He also has a small scar under his left eye from a dog bite as a child and shaggy brown hair.

The high-risk missing person status identifies Cuchna as a "person whose whereabouts are not currently known and whose circumstances indicate that the person may be at risk of injury or death," according to the police statute.

His father, Paul Cuchna, said Kyle has some mental health issues and has been off medication.

Kyle Cuchna had been living with a sister in Cary, Paul Cuchna said, up until Saturday when Kyle was taken to Advocate Good Shepherd Hospital after a well-being check at the sister's residence. The family filed a missing persons report after finding out Kyle had checked out of the hospital late Saturday and was taken to the church, Paul Cuchna said.

Kyle's brother, Erik Cuchna, said it's very unusual for Kyle to have disappeared like this.

"There's no cellphone, he doesn't have a bank account," Erik Cuchna said. "He's quite literally off the grid."

The Cary police are investigating this matter, trying to locate Kyle, the release said. Anyone with any information about Kyle Cuchna or his whereabouts should call the police department's investigations section at 847-639-2341.
