FRANKFORT – Lincoln-Way North High School faculty member Philip Guimond has been nominated for the University of Chicago’s Outstanding Educator Award.
Guimond was nominated by a former student who is currently attending the University of Chicago. This distinguished award has existed for more than three decades at the University of Chicago.
According to a letter from James G. Nondorf, dean of admissions and financial aid, the university invites entering first-year students to nominate an educator who has changed them, or helped them along the path toward intellectual growth.
Guimond teaches English and journalism and has worked for the Lincoln-Way High School District 210 for 14 years. He has served as the sponsor of the journalism club and been an assistant soccer coach at North.
He earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in education at Illinois Wesleyan University and his Master’s degree at Loyola University.
