MORRIS – Morris Hospital & Healthcare Centers recently honored 130 employees for achieving milestones in their years of service at its annual employee recognition dinner at the Morris Country Club.
“I am always amazed and in awe of the number of employees we have with such long tenure,” Morris Hospital & Healthcare Centers President & CEO Mark Steadham said in a news release.
The top two honorees were nursing leaders Diane Matteson, manager of Ambulatory Care, and Pat Schultz, manager of 2 East/Pediatrics, who both celebrated 45 years of service this past year. Since 1969, Matteson has advanced from being a staff nurse, to head nurse, nursing supervisor, and then to the current position she holds. In addition, she served on the Morris Hospital Foundation Board of Directors from 1998-2012.
Schultz began her career as a registered nurse in obstetrics before transferring to the Medical/Surgical department. Six years later, in 1975, she assumed the position she holds today, where she has provided leadership to hundreds of employees.
Brenda Lee, application specialist in the Information Technology Department, was another top honoree of the evening with 40 years of service. Lee started her career as a switchboard operator and was one of the first employees in the hospital’s data processing department back in 1979.
Each honoree received a long stem rose and a Grundy County Chamber of Commerce gift certificate.
