ST. CHARLES – A set of identical triplet boys were born Friday at Central DuPage Hospital in Winfield to Brandi and James Murphy of St. Charles, the hospital confirmed.

Breda Murphy, the boys’ aunt, said everything went well.

The boys were due at the end of January, but were delivered by Caesarean section at 34 weeks with the aid of a team of 16 doctors and specialists, Breda Murphy said. The boys are now in the neonatal intensive care unit, she said.

“They’re all good,” Breda Murphy said.

First born was James Patrick at 4.1 pounds, then Jonathan Joseph and Timothy William, both at 4.8 pounds, Breda Murphy said.

The couple already have a 2-year-old son, Thomas Jay, she said.

Breda Murphy said the couple found out they were having three boys in June and knew that they were identical because they all shared the same amniotic sac.

“They came over to my parents’ house with the ultrasound and showed everybody,” Breda Murphy said. “Her family has a history of multiples, among her aunts and uncles.”

James Murphy is a firefighter in Bensenville, and Brandi Murphy is a long-term substitute teacher, mostly at Anderson Elementary School in St. Charles School District 303, Breda Murphy said.

Breda Murphy said she teaches at Oswego East and her mother – the boys’ grandmother – Julia Murphy, teaches at Hoover-Wood in Batavia.

“With a 2-year-old and three infants, she will need more help when she gets home,” Breda Murphy said. “She has a sister who is a nurse, I have a sister who is a nurse. Our families are close. Someone will be helping. It’s all good.”
