ADDISON – An Addison police officer recently was selected as the DuPage County Juvenile Officer of the Year, according to an Addison Police Department news release.
The DuPage County Juvenile Association chose Officer Omar Brucal to receive the award, which recognizes him as an exceptional law enforcement officer who sets a valuable example to the youths of the community, the release stated.
Brucal has taught drug- and gang-prevention programs, along with other safety curriculums, in Addison Elementary School District 4 and DuPage High School District 88 since 2006, according to the release. He also organizes and runs the Peer Jury and Explorer programs for the Addison Police Department, and he is the president of the Illinois Dare Officer Association.
"Officer Brucal's co-workers, students and the residents of Addison enjoy being around him
because of his personality and ability to put a smile on one's face any day of the week," the release stated. "He is a true leader in representing the Police Department with his passion, work ethic and positive attitude."
