Packard Transport Inc. celebrating 25 years

CHANNAHON – Packard Transport Inc., a nationwide long-haul motor carrier providing freight transportation services is celebrating 25 years in business.

Founded on Oct. 24, 1989, by Rex D. Easton and the late Walter J. Kobos, Packard Transport was established with the goal of developing the finest truckload freight carrier utilizing independent owner operators exclusively, according to a news release from the company.

“Today, Packard Transport Inc. is a leading nationwide long haul carrier. We are very proud of this accomplishment and grateful to our customers, independent owner operators, sales agents and staff who have been instrumental in achieving this milestone,” Easton, chairman of the company, said in the release.

Currently more than 200 owner-operators provide flatbed, step deck, drop deck and van services to Packard Transport customers, including Fortune 500 companies and the U.S. Department of Defense. In addition, more than 125 independent sales agents represent Packard Transport across the U.S. Packard Transport specializes in hauling commodities including air handling units, aluminum, building materials (including insulation and steel), government freight, mining equipment, and truck bodies.
