BERWYN – Richard “Jousef” Mondragon, vice president of the Berwyn Development Corp., will be the person of honor at the 30th annual Charles E. Piper Award Dinner on Nov.1.
This year’s masquerade theme is Mystery Under the Mask and will feature a murder mystery dinner, raffle and a silent auction fundraiser.
The event will begin at 6 p.m. at Pierre’s Banquets, 3237 Harlem Ave.

Mondragon is being honored for his achievements and contributions towards the growth and development of Berwyn’s business community. Each year, the Berwyn Development Corp. membership selects an individual whom best exemplifies the spirit of one of Berwyn’s original developers, Charles E. Piper.
Mondragon is the vice president of Global Business Development for the Eaton Corp., a global and multinational electrical conglomerate. He has an executive management background in strategic management and business development.
With undergraduate degrees from New Mexico State University in electrical engineering and international business, Mondragon began his career as a technical sales engineer with GE Supply, the international distribution arm for the General Electric Co.
He also received an executive Masters in Business Administration from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign
Born in Albuquerque, N.M. and raised nearby in the small town of Taos, N.M., he moved to Chicago in 1996. He had been involved in Berwyn since 2006, before officially making the move from the northwest suburbs in 2010. He launched his social and public service in Berwyn with Youth Crossroads in 2006.
He also serves on the Board of Directors of the Berwyn Public Library and Youth Crossroads. Additionally, Mondragon serves as the president of the University of Illinois MBA Alumni Association for the College of Business and is the liaison to the Board of Regents for the university at large.
