Funeral set for Kathleen King

The funeral for a Geneva woman who died July 6 will be held today, according to her obituary.

A final viewing for Kathleen M. King, nee Kuester, 32, will begin at 9 a.m. today at Cumberland Chapels, 8300 W. Lawrence Ave., Norridge, and will proceed to Our Lady Mother of the Church, 8701 W. Lawrence Ave., Chicago, for a 10 a.m. Mass, according to the obituary. Interment will be in Acacia Park Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Kathleen King Children’s Trust, in care of Parkway Bank, 4800 N. Harlem Ave., Harwood Heights, IL 60706.

King was found dead July 6 on Union Pacific Railroad tracks south of Esping Park, 227 Briar Lane on Geneva's east side about 1,200 feet from her home, according to court records.

King's husband Shadwick, who was not mentioned in the obituary, was charged Friday with two counts of first-degree murder in her death. The next court date for the case is Wednesday.

Kathleen King was a U.S. Army reservist with the 485th Engineer Company out of Arlington Heights, according to the obituary. She graduated from Illinois State University with a bachelor’s degree in sociology and then obtained her MBA from North Park University.

According to the obituary, King is survived by her three children; her father Kurt Kuester and her mother Nancy Boyle, her sister, Kristine (fiancé Tim Casey) Kuester and brother, Michael Kuester; grandparents Jean Lane and James and Marjorie Boyle; and several aunts and uncles.
