BARRINGTON – Making an investment in downtown Barrington, Morgan Stanley has combined its two Main Street offices – at 303 E Main St. and 760 W. Main St. – to have a singular Wealth Management office at 760 West Main Street, Barrington.
Based in New York, Morgan Stanley has more than 20 offices in Illinois. A total of 54 financial advisors will work out of the new headquarters on West Main Street.
The office consolidation was made official during a Barrington Area Chamber of Commerce ribbon cutting ceremony May 6. Village and Chamber officials came out to show their support.
Morgan Stanley's Barrington branch manager Ken Skiba said he is proud to "bring Wall Street to Main Street," and to "continue to spur economic development in downtown Barrington."
Skiba said Morgan Stanley is invested in the Barrington community and is honored to have so many longtime residents as part of the team.
Barrington Village President Karen Darch said she believes the Morgan Stanley office at West Main Street will continue to provide a boost to the local economy and encourage business growth, talent development and jobs.
"It's critical that we attract industry-leading companies, like Morgan Stanley, which serve as a strong foundation for a vibrant downtown area," Darch said.
Back in 2009, Morgan Stanley and Citigroup announced that Citigroup would sell more than half of the Smith Barney business to Morgan Stanley for $2.7 billion, creating Morgan Stanley Smith Barney.
The national brokerage business officially changed its name to Morgan Stanley Wealth Management on Sept. 25, 2012.
Suzanne Corr, president of the Barrington Area Chamber of Commerce, said Morgan Stanley has "planted itself in the heart of a dynamic and vibrant business community."
"As a longtime supporting Chamber member, we are proud to participate in their success in this community," Corr said.
