DNA helps Villa Park police find MonteCasino Cafe burglary suspect

VILLA PARK – Villa Park police last week arrested a 20-year-old man who allegedly broke into a local restaurant in February and removed a cash register.

Victor Vega, 409 Douglas Ave., Villa Park was arrested at 3:40 p.m. April 8 near Villa Avenue and Manor Lane after officers located him near the Villa Park Metra Station. Vega was charged with burglary, a Class 2 felony, as well as two counts of obstructing a peace officer and trespass to railroad property.

At 7:49 a.m. Feb. 20, Vega allegedly broke a window and entered MonteCasino Cafe Grill, 401 N. Ardmore Ave. Vega took the cash register from the restaurant, police said. The register was found in the rear parking lot of the business.

Officers reportedly recovered DNA evidence at the scene and were later able to identify Vega.

Vega was transported to the DuPage County Jail. His bail was set at $500.
