Ramos wins NCAA wrestling title

OKLAHOMA CITY – Glenbard North graduate Tony Ramos became a national wrestling champion on Saturday after defeating Wisconsin's Tyler Graff in the NCAA Championships at Chesapeake Energy Arena.

The Iowa senior won a 3-1 decision in a tiebreak period in the final of the 133-pound weight class, adding a first-place finish to his second- and third-place showings the past two years.

Ramos notched a two-point near fall in the second 30-second tiebreak session, which came after neither wrestler scored during a one-minute overtime period.

The senior won five matches and became the 53rd Hawkeye to win an NCAA title.

Ramos also won the Big Ten title and finishes his collegiate wrestling career with 120 wins.
