WESTMONT – There was pizza, crazy hair and lots of weird-looking socks. That’s how Holy Trinity Catholic School marked Catholic Schools Week last week.

The Westmont school concluded the week’s activities – including a family pizza night, crazy hair day for students and a weird sock day – on Thursday with a pep rally and volleyball game between seventh- and eighth-graders.

It was a week full of spirit and pride at the school, 108 S. Linden St.

The week kicked off with an open house event on Jan. 26. The open house was a way for the school and parish to display the close-knit family feel of the Holy Trinity community, according to second-grade teacher Lorin Rentas.

“It’s important to have the community see all of the extras we have at our school and the environment,” Rentas said. “Just being here, they get a sense of the community we have.”

One parent said the open house gave her a sneak peak into the classroom atmosphere at Holy Trinity.

“It lets the parents come in and really see the environment the kids are in every day,” said Michelle Reyes, whose daughter attends kindergarten at the school.

“The school has a family style atmosphere and the teachers are more than just teachers here.”
