BARRINGTON – Open since 1853, Penny Road Pub is located at 545 Penny Road in Barrington.
General Manager Sharon Fetting, who calls herself the pub’s “organizer of chaos,” shared the business’ history with Barrington Suburban Life and told reporter Tarah Thorne what leaves Penny Road Pub customers coming back for more – live entertainment and good eats.
Penny Road Pub is open from 11 a.m. to 4 a.m. Monday through Saturday and 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday. Concerts are open to audiences of all ages. Patrons must be 16 or accompanied by an adult.
What is the history
of Penny Road Pub?
The original name was Sutton Pub. The spot which Penny Road Pub sits on was supposed to be the location of the train station for Sutton town.
However, the village moved the train station to Route 14, so Penny Road Pub was left by itself.
The Sanfilippo Family bought the property in 1973 and remodeled it in 1994.
