Dixon man fails to get porn charges tossed

DIXON – A motion to dismiss or to reduce the number of child pornography charges against a Dixon man was denied Wednesday morning.

Ronald Osborn, 62, is charged with 20 counts of aggravated child pornography.

The motion, filed April 29 in Lee County Court by his attorney, James Fagerman, argued that the Illinois Appellate Court has ruled that cases involving the possession of multiple images or video of child pornography could not support multiple convictions.

Osborn was arrested in a state child pornography crackdown called Operation Glass House. In a search of his home June 13, 2012, police took his computer and an external hard drive. The state Attorney General’s high-tech crimes bureau found numerous files containing images and/or video of child pornography, investigators say.

According to court documents, Osborn admitted downloading sexually explicit videos of children as young as toddlers for 5 to 7 years.

A pretrial conference is set for Sept. 10.
