WONDER LAKE - A fire caused an estimated $40,000 in damage Sunday morning.
About 12:30 a.m, the Wonder Lake Fire Protection District responded to a fire at 7611 Orchard Road in Wonder Lake. The first engine on the scene found a fuel source and flames catching on to the second level of the house, Wonder Lake Fire Protection District Lt. Ron Herman said.
First responders dampened the exterior of the house.
As more crews arrived, they made interior attacks. The fire was contained to about a quarter of the house and the rest of the house looks untouched, Herman said.
The family was home when the fire started, but were unharmed. There were no injuries. Two cats were found in the house. They were not in great condition when they were found, Herman said, but were revived.
Firefighters battled flames for about 30 minutes, Herman said.
The fire protection district received assistance from Cary, Crystal Lake, Fox Lake, Fox River Grove, Hebron, Huntley, McHenry, Richmond, Spring Grove, Woodstock and Bloomfield, Wis.
