CRYSTAL LAKE – Centegra Health System President and Chief Operating Officer Jason Sciarro has named Dr. Irfan Hafiz as the system’s new vice president of medical affairs.
Hafiz has been a practicing physician at Centegra Health System since 1997 and has served on numerous committees and leadership teams during that time. He also has served in leadership roles at other hospitals and health systems and will bring those experiences to the Centegra system.
Hafiz earned his medical degree from the Gandhi Medical College, completed his residency and internship at the John H. Stroger Hospital of Cook County and his fellowship at Rush Presbyterian St. Luke’s. The American Board of Internal Medicine certifies him for internal medicine with a subspecialty in infectious disease.
He is an independent physician on the medical staff of Centegra Hospital-McHenry and Centegra Hospital-Woodstock and will continue to practice while serving as the vice president of medical affairs.
Hafiz replaces Dr. Ted Lorenc, who spent the last six years in the role. Lorenc also provided primary medical care to the McHenry County community for 35 years before retiring last year.
