Towers at Four Lakes in Lisle to welcome residents back on Saturday

LISLE – Residents who were evacuated from the Towers at Four Lakes apartment complex due to flooding in April will be welcomed back to their homes on Saturday.

According to a press release sent on behalf of Towers at Four Lakes, residents will be welcomed at 8 a.m. by Lisle Mayor Joe Broda, Marquette Management staff and a team of student volunteers from Montini High School who will help residents move in.

Some 450 units were affected by the floods April 17-18 after approximately 3.5 million gallons of water flooded the lobbies and basement levels of the two towers and a below grade parking structure, the release states.

The floods destroyed the buildings’ electrical system, knocking out all mechanical systems in the buildings, according to the release. Restoration efforts have since been underway.

“We couldn’t be happier to get our residents back home,” said Jim Cunningham, Marquette Executive Vice President. “We realize this has been an ordeal for everyone.  Getting power, water and life safety systems and the clean up done as soon as possible has been our first priority.  We are so grateful for all the cooperation we’ve received from ComEd and the village in expediting the process.”

No damage occurred in any living quarters in the buildings, and residents have been able to retrieve pets, medications and additional necessities, according to the release.

The release further states that Marquette negotiated reduced stay rates at area hotels for displaced residents and has rebated rent, utilities and pet and parking fees from April 18 through June 30.

Residents will also receive a welcome package that will include a $100 Jewel gift card.

With mitigation complete in the buildings and the parking structure, and a clean bill of health from structural and environmental experts, repair work, garage resurfacing and redecorating  can now be completed.

Publicist Deb Newman said Towers at Four Lakes has received a temporary certificate of occupancy from the village of Lisle.

Cunningham expects to secure a permanent certificate of occupancy from the village in August.
