MORRISON – A Chicago man who stole items from Dollar General employees was sentenced Wednesday in Whiteside County Court to 9 years in prison for burglary.

Stephen M. Sato, 33, received two concurrent 9-year terms in two cases. Three theft charges were dismissed.

Sato and Julie Korotkov, 38, went into the Morrison store Jan. 3, and while one distracted employees, the other went into the break room and stole two wallets.

The employees’ credit cards were used at businesses in Clinton, Iowa, and possibly the Quad Cities.

On Dec. 31, they went into the Fulton store; one distracted employees while the other stole about $300 in cash, credit cards and IDs from the break room.

Korotkov was sentenced in February to two concurrent 5-year sentences for burglary.
