ROMEOVILLE – A 17-year-old Joliet male died after he was stabbed in a fight outside a Romeoville Jewel-Osco at about 8:43 p.m. Thursday, according to the Romeoville Police Department.
Fabian Almodovar, 22, of Romeoville, was taken into custody and will be charged with first degree murder of Carlos Orozco, according to police.
Romeoville police responded to Jewel, 20 S. Weber Road, for a reported fight involving two subjects and an alleged stabbing, according to police.
Police found the involved subjects, Almodovar and Orozco on the Jewel premises. Police apprehended the Romeoville man in the store bathroom and found the Joliet man unconscious in the parking lot, with an apparent stab wound to the chest, police said.
Romeoville investigators deemed the two subjects began to physically fight when the 22-year-old allegedly pulled out a knife and stabbed the 17-year-old in the chest, according to police reports.
The 17-year-old was transported to Adventist Bolingbrook Hospital where he was later pronounced dead, police said.
This case is still under investigation and will be reviewed by the Will County State’s Attorney’s Office for criminal charges.
