BOLINGBROOK – Two people were transported to Bolingbrook Adventist Hospital as a result of a three-car crash Monday morning, according to the Bolingbrook Police Department.
Neither injury "appears life threatening," Lt. Mike Rompa said.
About 5:17 a.m. Monday, a vehicle attempted to turn left from Route 53 to Lily Cache Lane when it was struck by a car traveling southbound. A third vehicle was struck as a result of the initial collision as it sat stationary, awaiting to turn onto Lily Cache, according to police.
The 67-year old woman driving the first vehicle was trapped inside her car when police arrived on scene, Rompa said. Rescue crews freed the trapped woman and transported her and a second victim to Adventist Bolingbrook Hopital, where they were treated for their injuries, according to police.
The woman was cited for disobeying a traffic control device, police said.
The intersection was shut down for approximately one hour, according to Rompa.
