LA GRANGE - Longtime La Grange resident and active community member John Penicook died March 6 after losing a battle against a brain tumor. He was 55 years old.

Penicook, husband of the President of the Park District of La Grange Mary Ellen Penicook, was involved in the community serving as a little league coach, a basketball and football coach at Saint Francis Xavier Scool and an AYSO referee. He, along with his wife, lived in La Grange for 24 years.

A visitation will be held on Friday from 3-9 p.m. at Hallowell and James in Countryside, followed by a funeral at St. Francis Xavier Church in La Grange at 10:30 a.m. Saturday.
