MAPLE PARK – A portion of Route 38 was closed Tuesday morning as police and towing workers removed a semitrailer from the side of the road.
A black sedan driven by Jack M. Fernald, 21, of Wheaton, was passing another vehicle while traveling east on Route 38 west of County Line Road about 10 a.m. Tuesday, according to DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office. Fernald did not see an on-coming, westbound semitrailer, according to a news release.
The truck was rounding the corner, and the sedan struck the trailer, pushing off the trailer’s rear axle, police said.
Neither driver required medical attention. Fernald was charged with improper overtaking.
Route 38 between Hinckley and County Line roads was closed as crews removed the vehicles.
