Grundy County deputies arrested a Coal City teen Sunday after he allegedly punched his neighbor in the face.
According to Grundy County Sheriff’s Department records, at about 5:10 p.m. Sunday, a deputy responded to 1580 N. Rollin Lane.
At the scene, a man told the deputy he and a woman were sleeping in their house and were woken up by a banging noise on the south side of the house. When they went outside to investigate, they saw a neighbor, Matthew C. Moser, 18, beating on the side of the house.
When Moser was approached by them, he allegedly wrestled the man down to the ground and punched him in the face four to five times. The woman reportedly pushed Moser off the man and he ran back to his garage.
When the deputy went to the garage to meet with Moser, he found that Moser was irate, screaming and yelling.
Moser told police he saw the man beating his girlfriend in the backyard, so he jumped the fence and tackled him and held his arms down.
After the man signed a complaint, Moser was arrested for battery. He was also cited for possession of drug equipment after the deputy saw a glass bowl commonly used to smoke marijuana. Moser said he had used it to smoke synthetic marijuana.
He was held on $150 bond at the Grundy County jail.
