Orasco gets 75 years in prison

Sentenced for role in 2009 murder of Terdic

JOLIET — A man tied to the 2009 home invasion and murder of Channahon resident Joshua Terdic was sentenced on Tuesday to 75 years in prison.

Cheri Johnson, a Will County State’s Attorney’s Office spokeswoman, said Jason S. Orasco, 27, of Channahon, was sentenced to 50 years in prison for murder and 25 years for aggravated battery with a firearm for his involvement in the July 7, 2009, home invasion of Terdic’s apartment.

According to previous reports, during the home invasion, Terdic was shot and died 10 days later, while a female victim, Lauren Vasilakis, was shot and survived.

Johnson said Orasco will serve the two terms consecutively, and may serve 85 percent of the 25-year sentence.

Earlier in the year, Orasco was found guilty of murder, attempted murder, home invasion, armed robbery and aggravated battery with a firearm.

Two others have also been sentenced in connection with the case — Ashley Hill, 19, and Mary Vetor, 26, both of Joliet. Hill pleaded guilty to home invasion and was sentenced to 11 years in prison. In December 2011, Vetor was sentenced to 61 years in prison.

A fourth person, Matthew Edwards, 20, also of Joliet, is awaiting trial.
