STERLING – A 26-year-old Sterling man is in Whiteside County Jail on $1 million bond after his arrest Tuesday in connection with an FBI drug probe.
Few details were released regarding the case of Craig H. Hartman, who Sterling police and FBI agents arrested about 6:16 a.m. in the 800 block of Avenue D on a Whiteside County warrant charging criminal drug conspiracy.
Detective Sgt. Steve Hubbard said the department was contacted by federal agents, who also had an arrest warrant for Hartman. He referred all questions to the FBI, adding that agents will release more information today.
Calls to the FBI were not returned Tuesday.
Hartman has several felony convictions in Whiteside County, mostly for burglary.
In February 2007, he was sentenced to 4 years in prison for burglary, with a 3-year concurrent sentence for violating his probation on a 2006 obstruction charge.
In September 2004, he was sentenced to 3 years in prison for possession of a firearm by a felon.
In December 2003, he was sentenced to boot camp after pleading guilty to three counts of burglary. He also pleaded guilty to two counts of theft and was sentenced to 30 days in jail.
