Rosendahl is also a U.S. Army veteran and is currently studying business at North Park University in Chicago.

Name: Robert J. Rosendahl
Age: 47
Village of residence: Ingleside. [I've lived here] 40 years on and off. I always come back.
Occupation: Executive chef

Where have you donated  your time as a chef?
I have been serving the Grant Township with my food. I have done the Grant Township Picnic, pancake and spaghetti dinners [for] Boy Scout Troop 188, Big Hollow School's barbecue, [the] Gurnee Fraternal Order of Police Pancake Breakfast, American Cancer Society's survivor walk, the  Grant Jr. Bulldogs Football Program and Cub Scout Pack 679 awards ceremonies.

Why have you chosen to volunteer your time as a chef with the community?
This community has provided me with a safe place to grow up in and raise my kids.
My mentor, Brandon Johnson, has taught me that energy is everything.
I am a servant leader. I believe that what I put out in the world is what I get back.

What do you enjoy about cooking?

I love the win-win. My guests get an incredible meal and I get the instant gratification – knowing I made someone's day.

What are some of your hobbies?
I am a wood worker and mechanic for my '54 Chevy pick-up.

What's something about you that would surprise most people?
I was the chef who was chosen to open KeyLime Cove. I was hired by Dave Anderson from Famous Dave's Ribs to create the menus, hire the staff and make it work – so really a consultant role. I no longer work there.

Three words that describe you:
Commitment, passion [and] energy.

Family: I am married with five kids and two grandkids. Children: Michael John, Michelle Sue, Juliayn Maire, Joshua Lyle, Leslie Angelina. Grandchildren: Michael William and Jayden.

Favorite thing about where I live:

[It's a] small town filled with family, friends and memories.
