DIXON – Skeeter E. Cyphers, 64, of Dixon, formerly of Rock Falls, died Sunday, Dec. 18, 2011, at his daughter’s home after an illness. He was a maintenance man at Products Unlimited in Sterling for 8 years.
Skeeter was born May 12, 1947, in Elizabethton, Tenn., the son of Guy and Fannie (Wilson) Cyphers.
He served in the Navy during the Vietnam War. He was an avid Chicago Bears fan and an accomplished drawing artist. He enjoyed cooking and loved his dog, Oliver.
Surviving are his daughters, Misty (Ryan) Buskohl of Dixon and Lyndie (Nick) Slaughter of Crystal Lake; a sister, Betty (Gary) Pierce of Moline; his grandchildren, Isabelle, Mallory, Maddox, Lily and Caleb; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Judy Meinsma.
There will be no visitation. The memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Friday at McDonald Funeral Home in Rock Falls, with Don Beasley, pastor of Turning Point Community Church in Dixon, officiating. Cremation rites have been accorded.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to Hospice of the Rock River Valley would be appreciated.
