DIXON – A search of a Dixon home Friday turned up 3 pounds of marijuana, cocaine, guns, cash, leading to the arrest of a mother and son on a number of drug charges.
Dustin L. Jones, 29, and Laurie L. Moser, 49, both were arrested at their home at 1301 Chicago Ave.
Jones is charged with possession with intent to deliver 500 to 2,000 grams of cannabis, possession of between 500 and 2,000 grams of cannabis, and two misdemeanor counts of possession of drug paraphernalia.
Moser is charged with possession of a controlled substance.
Both were in the Lee County Jail on Friday night.
Dixon Police Detective Sgt. Matt Richards said the department received a tip that the pair were “involved in the drug trade.” Officers watched the house for about a month before obtaining a search warrant Friday, Richards said.
About 4 p.m., officers raided the house and found the marijuana, worth between $3,000 and $3,500, approximately one gram of cocaine, 13 guns, numerous drug paraphernalia, and $1,000 in cash.
Most of the items were found in the basement, while some of the guns were found upstairs, Richards said.
Richards said officers also found plastic bags that may have been used to package the marijuana.
Richards said he does not believe Moser was dealing drugs, and characterized Jones as a “mid-level” dealer.
Richards said he did not know where the drugs or guns came from.
He added that officers are trying to determine whether either Jones or Moser has a valid Firearm Owner’s Identification card. More charges may be pending, Richards said.
