GENEVA – Attorneys for Kane County Circuit Clerk Deborah Seyller and the Kane County Board said Wednesday they needed a little more time to finalize a settlement agreement in a legal action brought by the clerk against the county board last year.
Seyller attorney Dean Frieders and county board attorney Ken Shepro, appearing before Kendall County Circuit Judge Timothy McCann at the old Geneva courthouse, said they would have the final agreement ready Friday. McCann said he would accept their agreed order at his courthouse in Yorkville.
After McCann signs the agreed order, the terms of the settlement will become public, Shepro said.
The county board and Seyller had been in a legal fight over funding for the circuit clerk's office for months. Seyller had sued, demanding an additional $550,000 from the county for the 2010 fiscal year. The Kane County Board voted Tuesday to approve the settlement with Seyller.
